The Dilemma: Lupe Fiasco's Lasers

This kind of feels like the time you were a kid, you wanted something so bad, but just couldn't get it no matter what you said. Yeah, describes the feeling pretty well. The wait for Lupe's next album has been 3 long years now. Ever since listening to Fighters, and hearing lupe say, " Now we just got one more to go..L.U.P.END."

At the end of Lupe's The Cool, all eyes were on him, and what he was going to do next. During a period where sales were slowly treading to the floor, The Cool went gold. As a fan, I was getting excited, and saddened at the same time. L.U.P.END was slated to be a three disc album, who wouldn't be hype for that?

As time passed, and passed, L.U.P.END was trashed, and the new idea of releasing three albums instead came about, with The Great American Rap Album being stamped for a June 2009 release. Then shit took another turn, now the album's title was changed to We Are Lasers, and then changed again to just...Lasers. At this point, everything done caused me to say..What..The..Fuck? Even in this whole chaos of changes..we heard the greatness that was Shining Down Featuring Matthew Santos. The hype started to build again.

Snippets started to circulate, but still there was no certain information on the set release. I did not know what to think, maybe the whole quitting thing went to Lupe's head, and caused him to go over beard, maybe it was turmoil inside his camp. The only thing I knew for sure is that I wanted Lasers.

Enemy Of The State seemed to come out of nowhere, but in a way it felt needed. With the whole feel around Lasers causing a turmoil, the mixtape seemed to feed the hunger of people who wanted to hear Lupe on pretty much...anything. Riding off the success of the mixtape, Lupe marched on the Stepping Lasers Tour. At this point, I figured it was finally coming, finally.

Then the bomb dropped, Lupe took to twitter, and stated that Atlantic Records had the album, and was waiting for a release. Lupe's fan base waiting long enough, took to the internet to start a online petition demanding for Atlantic Records to release Lasers. The petition gained national exposure, being featured on CNN, and MTV. This lead to Atlantic stating that Lasers is "coming soon."

Today is October 5th.. and I still sit here...waiting for Lasers.
