By far one of the three female musicians I follow passionately, and is climbing the totem pole rapidly. La Roux was scheduled for a show at the Variety Playhouse during the summer, but had to cancel due to a cause of Bronchitis. Nevertheless, She & her band return to Atlanta this friday at the famed Tabernacle. With Bullet Proof catching heat on American radio waves, I hope many come out to discover her other great records.

Taharqa, the great Nubian King of Egypt and Sudan in all his glory.
Piankhi The Nubian, the founder of the 25th dynasty of Egypt who ruled Egypt from the of Napata, located deep in Nubia, now Sudan. The Lord of Two Lands accomplished many great feats in his 35 years of reign. Buried in an Egyptian-styled Pyramid, something that was not done in the past 500 years, this showed the depth of his rule. Erased from the books of history for millennia's, there lays only one evidence of his existence on statues.. one that only shows his feet. We are left with the detail that his skin was of black color. During the 25th dynasty, the Nubian pharaohs brought reunification to Egypt that was torn during the time.

A while ago, I did a speech about how aspiring music artists can be successful without a record deal. I talked about how there are so many tools available for an artist to be successful without signing your life away to a record label. Jay-Z's top producer, Young Guru talks about how major record companies enslave their artists to sell records. Could record labels be obsolete in the future? Watch this video.

If a moment is spared, and free time is offered. This can only mean one thing for me, find out where Anthony Bourdain has been recently, and what food has he tried for most of us to discover. One thing I happened to pick up from this show, Peruvian cocaine isn't what Peru is known for around the parts, it is actually their Guinea Pigs. Yes, the tiny, cute, and furry little animals are actually a delicacy of the Andes.

As people, it is very easy to get lost in the whole dilemma of friends, acquaintances, and the people you work with when you are trying to make something of yourself. Sometimes you are so focused on your goals, you may even think most of the people you are around are even trying to hold you back.

Fall and winter are two of my favorite seasons, while reading the Deeper Than Dope blog I noticed a new post on fall clothing for males. After reading and looking at all the looks that were made for the post, I fell in love with every single look. What amazes me the most is that every outfit is simple and still masculine. I also liked the way the guys wore clothing from thrift stores ( I'm big on shopping at second hand stores for deals).Even though the pieces are very vintage, it gives guys some new ideas on what to wear for the fall season.

We have yet to hear Damien on track by himself, until he dropped this freestyle a couple days ago. He plans on releasing a solo mixtape later on this year. Damien has a very Cali and underground hip hop sound to him. What I like most about the freestyle is that he rapped over a old Mobb Deep track and killed it.

Its been 11 years since The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was released, since then Lauryn has left many of her fans, including me, waiting. Most female artist these days have no comparison to Lauryn, she is unique. Not only because of that album but being in the hip-hop group The Fugees. Even though her personal life has caused her to stop making music, she has been spotted performing at local music festivals and recently dropped a track called "Repercussions".

Noctum Artist Spotlight: Johnny of FKB

Edit Post
A wise person once said “Never judge a book by its cover.” I got a chance to have a brief chitchat with Cornell Owens aka Johnny of FKB, the other half of the local Atlanta based music duo FatKidsBrotha. At first glance, the large bearded 20 year old seems pretty shy and sort of anti-social. As soon as we started talking about music and they way he feels about the group as a whole. I could tell he was a down to earth person and very passionate about the music he creates. He is very opinionated, has a great sense of music, and has a liking for sharks (strange, right?). This summer Johnny and Dav.E (the other half of the group) dropped their second mixtape, “The Lamest Cool”. Johnny explained during the interview about the meaning behind the tape and how it relates to them. After spending the afternoon with him, I came to the conclusion, that in actuality he is the definition of the “lamest cool”. He does what he wants to do and says what he wants to say, even if it makes him seem “lame” to others, but majority of the time he is seen as a cool guy to his peers.

You want to know what Jay-Z and Michael Jordan have in common? Yeah, they are considered the best at what they do. However, they both announced their retirements prematurely. Jordan retired at the prime of his career before coming back a year after a dismal stint as a "baseball player". In 2003, Jay-Z announced that his 8th album, The Black Album, would be his final project and that he is retiring from the rap game.

I was probably in the fifth or sixty grade, with an intense case of ADD I always had extremely random paroxysms, art (drawing mainly) was really the only thing that could calm me down. ( Thank God I grew out of it). I remember being assigned a project by my art teacher. The task was to do a report about your favorite artist, and try your best to redraw or paint one of their works. I didn't really have a favorite so I had to do some research, when I took a visit to the library..I found gold.

"Men's ideas are the most direct emanations of their material state."
Karl Marx
Sometimes I get carried away by just thinking, sometimes it makes sense. I looked over to a pair of shoes on the floor, they happened to be a pair of sb dunks... and I just sat there wondering, why did I decide to even buy them? Thought about it some more, and came to the conclusion that this impulse of mine came from me wanting to be like another person. What we do not notice, we happen to mimic the actions of the people we hang around the most. It may be a small trait we pick up, and use in our daily lives, shit, it may be their whole personality we steal. I will try to shorten this long post as it goes on, in every local scene, there happens to be a Capo, a boss, or what ever you want to call the person everyone happens to know, and admire. He usually holds the judgement on what is presided as what is "in" at the moment. This is where my mind just started to fuck it self. I thought about the people that I associate with, would they wear the shit they put on daily if it wasn't for some one who they happened to see have the same thing on... Would they even decide to smoke weed, or drink Alcohol if the person they happened to admire did not do the same? What I am trying to get at is, the bit of originality we think all of us possess.. is not that, it is admiration towards what we see in others.. In a sense, we are clones of what our eyes see.

Chassis Legends: Porsche 550 Spyder

Edit Post
Inspired by the Porsche 356, the 550 Spyder has a special aura around it. Part of this aura happens to be the nickname bestowed upon it,the "Giant Killer," the car took the life of the great James Dean in a fatal car accident. Instead of the public being dragged away from its interest, this just happened to add to the allure that the Porsche had. The Spyder brought Porsche its first win in many major sports racing events, with the 24 hours of Le Mans being one, and another being the Carrera Panamamericana, which is synonymous with the Porsche label. Being one of Porsches first post-World War II cars, it helped build the label we know to respect today.
